Kudos to Rep. Slaughter!

Monday, March 14, 2011

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter has been a member of the US House of Representatives, representing the 28th District of New York for a very long time now--she's now in her 13th term.

 Rep. Slaughter

She's done a great deal for the people in her district and I was really eager to read a piece she co-wrote with Rep. Markey for Politico regarding the dangers of Triclosan. She and Rep. Markey have been working diligently to raise awareness about how dangerous triclosan is. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this toxin, it makes up nearly three quarters of the hand soaps on the market and is found in other products, too.

The piece by the reps gets the point across that we need to follow suit with other countries and stop putting products out there with this toxin. It also reminds people that soap and water is the best method of hand-washing.

Here is the opinion piece: click here.

Would you like to learn more about triclosan? Here are two pieces I wrote about the dangers of triclosan:

I also am going to share a handmade antibacterial soap recipe with you once again. Here it is.
