More Silk Naturals Talk

Monday, November 15, 2010

I have talked to you about a line of Vegan and natural mineral makeup called Silk Naturals. This company is located right here in New York-- in Trumansburg, which is by Ithaca. I've tried three lip products (which I reviewed here), brow powder, a finishing powder, and a perfecting glow. Today I ordered two red lippies: one called Hot Blooded and another called Bombshell.

I realized that I didn't post reviews of two items, so thought I would right now.

Pristine Perfecting Glow--This is described as an exact clone of Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Pure Radiance. I would say it's even lovelier when it comes to texture and longevity. This is a muted peach meets tan with radiant sparkles. Please don't read this as "glitter" or that disco ball effect. This is perfect for daytime or night time wear and a little goes a very long way. This imparts a beautiful, radiant glow. I'd say it can be worn by any skin type. I just love it! My skin has cool undertones, but the peachy tan is still wonderful. It's very subtle, yet gives that healthy look we all want.

The cost is very affordable, as is everything at Silk Naturals. While you may not get fancy packaging, you will get high quality, healthy ingredients that are far better than high end brands. This product is both Vegan and Gluten-Free and sells for $6.50 for a 10 gram pot. Our grade: A+

I also have been using Blur Tinted Finishing Powder. This silica-based mineral powder (think along the lines of Urban Decay's $30 powder) has a very wearable tint. It comes in one shade that is very sheer and would be suitable for nearly everyone. This has been really kind to my dry skin this fall. I typically use the Everyday Minerals Finishing Dust, but find that that works best for me in the warmer months when my skin is less dry.  The Silk Naturals powder is so soft and gentle and blends like a dream. It sets my foundation or tinted moisturizer and it truly gives a dewy--but not greasy--look. This sells for $9.95 for a 20 gram jar.

Our Grade: A

Now here are the two new lippies I ordered. They are two different reds and I cannot wait to try them out:

The first one is called Bombshell and it is one of their Vegan Lipsticks. It is described as a cooler red, while not necessarily a blue red. It is supposed to be a true, classic red. I am eager to try it! This formula sells for $5.75.

The second lippie I ordered is Hot Blooded and it's a Kisser Slicker formula. The site describes it as "a complicated color- multi faceted made with some warm reds, some cool reds, and some bits of other things to make it more interesting". The reviews for this are wonderful--as are almost all reviews I've seen for Silk Naturals. And what a bargain at $4.50!

You know, you absolutely do not have to spend a fortune to have high quality makeup. I've said it before and I'll say it again: what matters most is the ingredients! Today I ordered two lip products and the total was $14.26 with tax and shipping added in. That's like buying two drugstore lipsticks filled with chemicals.

I'll post pictures and reviews when my reds arrive!

Disclosure: I paid for all of my SN items. I received no compensation of any form for this review and all opinions are my own.
