{pretty smart: intelligent nutrients}

Two great products came across my desk the other day from a company called Intelligent Nutrients. This line is the brainchild and passion of Horst M. Rechelbacher, the founder of the popular line Aveda in 1978 and was a pioneer in the plant-based skin and hair care industries. Rechelbacher sold Aveda to Estee Lauder in the 90s, but carried on with his passion for safe and toxin-free products.

Intelligent Nutrients products are certified USDA Organic and are food grade. They are free of toxins and some are even gluten-free. Something I find very intriguing about the line is the fact the many of the plant ingredients are grown by Rechelbacher on his organic farm in Wisconsin. This farm is wind, solar, and geothermal powered. is solar, wind and geothermal powered. This really is a green company in many ways and I think this is commendable!

You've heard me here at C & G complaining about the nasty ingredients found in many products, a pet peeve being hand cleansers with nasties since so many of us use them on our kids. I have one that I have enjoyed by Clean Well which is lovely and is toted around on my boys' backpacks and in my handbag. I am always on the lookout for other healthy skin care and was thrilled when I tried this new one!

I have been testing out two different types of hand cleansers from Intelligent Nutrients and they get my stamp of approval for sure.

The first is the HAND SANITIZER, which is a 2 ounce spray bottle ($12). This is what Nick typically uses because he prefers the spray. I feel confident knowing that he's not rubbing propylene glycol or other nasties into his little hands. He pumps one spray from the nozzle, rubs his hands together, and is ready to go.

This product is chock full of nutrients, from pumpkin seed oil to black cumin seed oil, vitamin E, raspberry and grapeseed, and more. It has peppermint, bergamot and vanilla to add a natural fragrance as well.

My favorite is the HAND PURIFIER. I love it. First of all, it smells heavenly. You cannot say that about most hand sanitizers. They are either too citrusy and herbally--this one contains natural vanilla and peppermint essential oils, chamomile, aloe vera, a tiny hint of tea tree, and rice bran--and I just am hooked on this one. I tote it everywhere with me. This is my go to product when I am at Target or Wegmans and touch the shopping carts and want to de-germ. It's what I am pulling out of my purse a few times a day. I also have it on my work table in my jewelry studio when I am working on new pieces. It helps keep the germs away--in fact, it kills 99.99% of them--all while leaving my hands smelling great.

What sets this waterless hand cleanser apart from any others that I have tried--even others I have really enjoyed--is that it also moisturizers the hands. The rice bran, aloe, and chamomile soothe and nourish the skin.  My hands feel like I have used a non-greasy, lightweight lotion after I use this. I can say, without hesitation, that this is truly a wonderful product.

It comes in a 2 ounce hard tube and sells for $12. I can also tell you that a little goes a very long way, so this 2 ounce tube will last you much longer than you'd expect.

Intelligent Nutrients is available online, at Barney's NY, Whole Foods, and dozens of salons throughout the nation.
