A Day at the Market: Southern Vermont Soap

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. Today Chic & Green is back to talk about some great handmade soaps found on 1000 Markets. If you know me, my favorite soaps of all time are from Aunt Nancy's Handmade Soaps on Etsy. Nan is not only a fantastic soaper, but she's a kind-hearted, lovely person to talk to. She'll always be my #1!

That being said, so many readers ask me if I know of other great soapers who offer bars free of palm oil. I've tried Alchemic Muse, also on Etsy, and have enjoyed the soaps.

I found a great one now on 1000 Markets! The business is called Southern Vermont Soap. She offers some wonderful soaps in her shop. Read the ingredients labels before you order, as some do have palm oil. I ordered two palm oil free bars: Creamy Coconut Shea Butter Soap ($4.50) and Manuka Honey & Lavender Goat's Milk Soap ($5.00).

The bars are beautiful and nicely scented. The lather is very creamy and each bar lathers quite nicely. The bars are hard, without being too hard, and overall I am extremely impressed with these two great bars.

The shea butter, olive oil, coconut, soybean and castor oils in the coconut bar make this one extremely soothing to dry skin. I adore coconut scents and I can tell you that the coconut bar is one of the best I have ever used. The lavender bar contains goat's milk along with cocoa and shea butters, and is just delightful!

It looks like the shop has been stocked quite a bit more since I looked last week, and she now has
sea salt bars listed (no palm oil). I love using salt bars in the summertime to give my arms a legs a glow! The margarita bar is calling my name, as a matter of fact!

Be sure to head right over to this great shop today and be sure to tell her Chic & Green sent you on over.
